DOMLEC attributes these issues to inadequate power generation capacity, an ageing diesel generation fleet, and reliance on equipment that has served the company for 37 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, in Trafalgar, we are putting the permanent support in place and just doing some due diligence with the rest of the support structures,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, presently there are five hydro turbines in total between the three stations.<\/p>\n<p>That is one at Laudat, two at PADU, and two at Trafalgar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of the five, four of them are in service,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that PADU is in service as well as Laudat and at Trafalgar one unit is in service with a slight blockage, \u201cso we are not getting full capacity from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe other Trafalgar unit we are currently doing some investigation on and it\u2019s currently out of service,\u201d Savarin explained.<\/p>\n<p>He said although there is a local team conducting investigations on the matter, the company may have to seek some additional assistance from abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he pointed out that DOMLEC was able to put a partial diversion in place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a diversion project, it\u2019s not completed yet, but we were able to put it partially in place to allow water to go down to PADU while we were doing some work on the Trafalgar pipeline,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>DOMLEC is currently working hard to ensure that customers get the full service that they so truly deserve.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Generation Manager of Dominica\u2019s Sole Electricity Company, DOMLEC Kurt Savarin has said the pipeline that was damaged on September 22, causing a reduction in electricity generation at Trafalgar and its PADU station has been fully repaired.
