{"id":310426,"date":"2023-10-26T13:37:53","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T17:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=310426"},"modified":"2023-10-26T13:37:53","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T17:37:53","slug":"domlec-tackling-festive-season-capacity-from-several-angles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/domlec-tackling-festive-season-capacity-from-several-angles\/","title":{"rendered":"DOMLEC tackling festive season capacity from several angles"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_310427\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-310427\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-310427\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Daryl-Dalrymple-642x371.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"370\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-310427\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daryl Dalrymple<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Acting General Manager of Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC), Daryl Dalrymple has said that the company is doing everything in its power to ensure that the load shedding affecting its customers in recent times is either eliminated or minimal during the festive season.<\/p>\n<p>Dalrymple, who is also the Restoration Coordinator of DOMLEC made the announcement while addressing DOMLEC\u2019s progress update this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been working to ensure that the units&#8230;are capable of taking us through the festive season and we will do all that we can to ensure that the load shedding is either eliminated for that period or it is minimal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, any major unit the company may lose presently, \u201cwill put us in a compromising position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been very vigilant in terms of our maintenance activities ensuring that we do what we have to do to ensure that the units we have available remain available for the coming festive season,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He said if that can be done the company will be in a comfortable position.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Dalrymple explained that the constant rainy weather the country has been experiencing has lowered the temperatures significantly and that\u2019s a good thing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that too is allowing the diesel units to function much more comfortably, much more efficiently at the lowest that we are loading them into now,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, DOMLEC has been requesting very large consumers to get off the system to help free up capacity.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that in terms of the hospital, the Financial Centre, the government as well as some private companies have been playing their part.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the day they have been self-generating, in addition to the customary ones we have had coming off the network to free up some capacity so that the other domestic customers could have power,\u201d Dalrymple noted. \u201cWe have been calling other large customers to give us some assistance in terms of freeing up capacity so that other customers can enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Acting General Manager of Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC), Daryl Dalrymple has said that the company is doing everything in its power to ensure that the load shedding affecting its customers in recent times is either eliminated or minimal during&#8230;","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":310427,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_cbd_carousel_blocks":"[]","footnotes":""},"categories":[279,77,235,285,9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-310426","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy","category-homepage","category-homepage-carousel","category-infrastructure","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
