The Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT) is thrilled to introduce an exciting initiative this year with the aim of shining a spotlight on the talent of young entrepreneurs in catering. The initiative dubbed ‘Caterers’ Showcase’ was launched during a ceremony held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium conference room this week.<\/p>\n
This event is scheduled for Friday, December 15, 2023, with the venue to be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n
Coordinator of the Dominica Youth Business Trust, Phillip Rolle who was addressing the ceremony, said the primary objective of this \u2018Caterers’ Showcase\u2019 is, \u201cto provide a unique platform for the lesser known, yet highly skilled culinary entrepreneurs to gain exposure as well as foster valuable connections with the business community.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the \u2018Caterers’ Showcase\u2019 is designed to help a number of entrepreneurs in the country to tackle the challenge of being able to tap into the market.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe envision this event as a pivotal moment for networking and collaboration where key figures from both the public and private sectors will be invited to witness the culinary prowess of our talented youth,\u201d Rolle stated.<\/p>\n
To ensure a dynamic and engaging experience participating entrepreneurs are encouraged to let their “delectable creations” do the talking by providing samples of their culinary delights.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis interactive approach will allow the attendees to savour the diverse talents and flavours these emerging entrepreneurs bring to the table,\u201d Rolle said.<\/p>\n
Registration for the ‘Caterers\u2019 Showcase’ is now open to all young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 who are involved in catering. Interested individuals are invited to stay connected with the DYBT social media pages to register and for regular updates, as well as any additional information regarding this exciting event.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, DYBT Project Officer, Eamon Gibbons said the DYBT is accepting applications for the upcoming 31st installment of the Small Business Assistance Facility Training program. The training is slated to run from December 4-8, 2023 via the DYBT\u2019s online Zoom platform, starting at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Eamon indicated that usually the December edition of the program is held face-to-face, however, the trust has decided to host the training via the online medium, Zoom, in the evenings, in an effort to facilitate and engage entrepreneurs who are otherwise busy throughout the working days, \u201cand to ensure easy access to entrepreneurship training.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to him, the objective of the training is to assist entrepreneurs in further developing the skills needed to successfully run a business.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe SBAF will touch on key management topics such as record keeping, marketing, costing and pricing, understanding cash flow, and meeting industry standards,\u201d Gibbons explained.<\/p>\n
