The police in the twin-island federation have announced the arrest and charge of the main suspect in the matter, Dijon Warner.<\/p>\n<p>Pacquette met his tragic end after he was shot in the leg during a scuffle when he and another officer went to investigate a larceny report on June 23, 2016. He was flown to Trinidad for medical treatment and the leg was subsequently amputated.<\/p>\n<p>He passed away on July 18, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, in 2018, the Police in St. Kitts issued a wanted bulletin for Warner, who was 24 at that time, for manslaughter in connection with the death of Pacquette. However, he had already fled St Kitts in 2016 to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, November 30, 2023, the police in St Kitts announced that Warner, a former police officer, was arrested in the US and flown to St. Kitts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He arrived at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on November 29, 2023, after serving a five-year sentence in a US detention facility,&#8221; they said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr. Warner was taken into Police custody and transported to the Basseterre Police Station where he was charged on November 29, 2023.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pacquette was born in Goodwill on January 22, 1982.<\/p>\n<p>After high school, he got deeply involved in youth groups such as the Cadet Corps, Police Organization for Youth Development (POYD), Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme representing Dominica earning certificates in Duke of Edinburgh\u2019s Award, Pan American Health Organization, Mass Casualty Management (MCM) Workshop (July 2006), and Duke of Edinburgh\u2019s Award Leader and Regional Assessor Training in Antigua and St. Vincent.<\/p>\n<p>He was also a Volunteer Fire Officer at Dominica Fire Ambulance (2005-2007) and a volunteer for the Dominica Red Cross. In 2005, he was the first person to receive the National Youth Council\u2019s Award for volunteering.<\/p>\n<p>He was given a full military funeral and then laid to rest at the Roseau Public Cemetery on August 9, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Among those who attended his funeral were then Prime Minister of St. Kitts &amp; Nevis Dr. Timothy Harris, Dominica\u2019s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, and then Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Justice is on the horizon for Dominican, Brian Pacquette, seven years after his shooting death in St Kitts and Nevis where he worked as a police officer.
