Outgoing General Manager of Dominica\u2019s Sole Electricity Company (DOMLEC) Bertilia McKenzie said for the past weeks there has been no load-shedding and expects service reliability to return to the level it was before May of this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have not been load-shedding at all, since last week,\u201d she said. \u201cOne of the things we did was to bring on three megawatts of additional capacity, utilizing Agrekko units.”<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cThat has been done and we have been consistently getting the capacity that we contracted with Aggreko. That is going very well, hence no load-shedding.\u201d<\/p>\n

A team from Agrekko-Caribbean is currently in Dominica on a six-month contract to assist DOMLEC in ensuring that a reliable electricity supply is provided to the country.<\/p>\n

The team is being led by the Business Development Manager of Agrekko, Nigel Hosein. DOMLEC has entered into a rental agreement with Aggreko, a generator rental firm to lease two units generating three megawatts of electricity. The units arrived on the island on Friday, November 10 and the commissioning process began on Sunday (November 26).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, McKenzie said the Trafalgar Power Plant is expected to be fully back online in mid-December.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThat will be two units over three megawatts coming online as well and I am keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

DOMLEC observed consumer appreciation day today.<\/p>\n
