The Roseau Christmas Village officially opened at the Botanic Gardens on Friday evening, allowing several local entrepreneurs\u00a0to showcase their creativity and talent at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Christmas Village is also a platform where local entrepreneurs will showcase their creativity and talent,\u201d Parliamentary Representative of the Roseau Central Constituency Melissa Poponne-Skerrit stated. \u201cYou will notice handmade crafts are done with tropical motifs to locally sourced food and drink.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to her, the Roseau Christmas Village will embody the essence of Dominica\u2019s culture, craftsmanship, and creativity.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so, I encourage you to buy, I encourage you to shop\u2026,\u201d she urged. \u201cLadies let\u2019s give Amazon and Shein a break this Christmas and let\u2019s gift to one another from here, because you will be supporting our local entrepreneurs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Poponne-Skerrit continued, \u201cAnd do not forget, importantly to connect with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she pointed out that the Christmas Village is a place where one can cozy-up with a festive cocktail and enjoy delicious food.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe open-air shopping itself also has several new vendors and eateries,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

She urged Dominicans to support these small businesses.<\/p>\n

Poponne-Skerrit went on to state that the Roseau Christmas Village provides a safe and secure family-friendly environment for children to enjoy a variety of holiday activities including live music, fun and games, and Santa and the North Pole characters to name a few.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit was also elated about the Christmas Village, especially where the small businesses are concerned.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs my wife has indicated they are catering for 60 plus small businesses across Dominica who will showcase their local talents and the products of Dominica and place them on sale,\u201d he stated. \u201cI know that in the years that the Parl Rep has had this Christmas Village numerous small businesses across Dominica have benefited and tonight we have over 40 of them already set up and ready to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another very important element of this Christmas Village he said is the shared joy it brings to citizens of Dominica, especially the children and senior citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the fact that this is a space where families can come together, a safe place and an opportunity for us to enjoy ourselves and to really appreciate the true spirit of Christmas…\u201d Skerrit noted.<\/p>\n

He urged everyone to turn out in large numbers along with their families to support the event.<\/p>\n
