{"id":313922,"date":"2023-12-15T11:16:05","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T15:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=313922"},"modified":"2023-12-15T11:16:05","modified_gmt":"2023-12-15T15:16:05","slug":"dominica-grammar-school-receives-22-million-dollar-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/governance\/dominica-grammar-school-receives-22-million-dollar-upgrade\/","title":{"rendered":"Dominica Grammar School receives $22 million dollar upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_313923\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-313923\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-313923 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Contruction-works-at-the-Dominica-Grammar-School-Photo-Credit-GIS-e1702653059621-642x436.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"435\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-313923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Construction works ongoing at Dominica Grammar School<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Education Minister Octavia Alfred has announced that the main classroom block which will house 13 classrooms at the new Dominica Grammar School will be connected to the existing block at every level with an elevator to accommodate students with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>She disclosed this during the debate of supplementary estimates amounting to over $349 million in Parliament on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new school project will have one main classroom block which will house 13 classrooms, a storage room, washroom facility,\u201d she revealed. \u201cThis new classroom block will be connected to the existing block at every level with an elevator.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cThis will improve the capability for the school to accommodate students with disabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said there is also an administrative block that will accommodate the reception, four classrooms, a computer room, administrative, principal&#8217;s and deputy principal&#8217;s office, seminar room, workshop room, staff room, library, and washroom.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the minister said there will be an auditorium and a theatre block.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis state-of-art theatre consists of a reception area, eating area, kitchen, sitting area with 640 seats,\u201d Alfred stated. \u201cThere will be a stage, changing room, storage, washroom, office space, meeting room and projector room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said further that the school will consist of an international football size field, one basketball court, one tennis court as well as parking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe existing blocks will be renovated to reflect the new block design and the entire perimeter will be fenced,\u201d Alfred noted. \u201cThe twenty-two million six hundred and sixty-eight thousand, eight hundred and fifty-six dollars and twenty-five cents, under the Ministry of Education Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence in the supplementary appropriation was used to meet expenses related to the renovation of the Dominica Grammar School.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Education Minister Octavia Alfred has announced that the main classroom block which will house 13 classrooms at the new Dominica Grammar School will be connected to the existing block at every level with an elevator to accommodate students with disabilities&#8230;.","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":313923,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_cbd_carousel_blocks":"[]","footnotes":""},"categories":[16,286,77,235,285,9,21],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-313922","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-educationyouth","category-governance","category-homepage","category-homepage-carousel","category-infrastructure","category-news","category-technology"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
