Several steel pan groups will be given the opportunity to showcase their talent and musicality in selected areas in Roseau today for another traditional aspect of Carnival dubbed, \u201cPan in the City.\u201d<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The event began at 10 a.m. and is expected to go till 2 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSteel pans will resonate from the corners of the city,\u201d Organizer of Pan in the City Giselle Hyacinth said. \u201cWe have a rich steel pan history with greats like Mr. Edward Andre, Moses Dominique, Wilfred Jno Baptiste, and Adam Jno Baptiste. Stalwarts in this artform that we cannot allow to become dormant.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cThis year we are featuring the maestro and veteran Bob D who will be located at the Jays Bookstore, there will be a resurgent of the coolest kids in pan in the Possie Pan in front of the Digicel Store and the ever-electrifying, enchanting and vibrant \u2018Pan in Harmony\u2019 located at the Prevo Cinemall.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Hyacinth, apart from the groups at these locations, there will be a Hi-Fi system blasting cultural music around the City.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe are also urging all radio stations to also join in and play steel pan music from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,\u201d she urged.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the village of St Joseph will come alive today for the opening of Carnival.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event which is expected to begin on the highway near the Gentle Rest Funeral Home from 2 p.m. and will feature a group of 40 sensays among other groups on the streets of St Joseph.<\/span><\/p>\n

The cultural aspect of the village carnival will be the main feature, with entertainment will be provided by the Sakis Lapo Kabwit and Mahaut Lapo Kabwit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hi-Fi trucks will feature Dj Taffy, NICE, Freddy, Go Fast, Zone Rouge among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

The band segment is expected to feature two top bands in Dominica, Triple Kay International and Signal Band.<\/span><\/p>\n
