{"id":315846,"date":"2024-01-24T23:29:50","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T03:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=315846"},"modified":"2024-01-24T23:29:50","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T03:29:50","slug":"life-of-media-personality-ferdina-frampton-to-be-celebrated-by-dominica-calypso-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/life-of-media-personality-ferdina-frampton-to-be-celebrated-by-dominica-calypso-association\/","title":{"rendered":"Life of media personality  Ferdina Frampton to be celebrated by Dominica Calypso Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_315847\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-315847\" style=\"width: 642px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-315847\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Daryl-Bobb-file-photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"642\" height=\"428\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-315847\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daryl Bobb<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While the Calypso season is obviously about Calypso, for the Dominica Calypso Association (DCA) this year&#8217;s focus will be placed on celebrating the extraordinary life of the late media personality, Ferdina Frampton.<\/p>\n<p>Frampton, who was an employee of FLOW Dominica, died at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) on January 17.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us at the Dominica Calypso Association this year will be a lot about Ferdina Frampton, an extraordinary human-being who served us for seven seasons as judge\u2019s coordinator,\u201d Executive member of the DCA, Daryl Bobb said while addressing a Carnival press conference on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cI just want to say that at this point, while we are aware that no words can replace Ferdina\u2019s memory we would like to implore everyone whose lives she impacted to join hearts and hands in celebrating the extraordinary life of a phenomenal Dominican, Ferdina Frampton.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bobb added, \u201cWhile her soul rests in eternal and graceful peace, may her legacy of hard work with distinction, determination and kindness, selflessness [live] on forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was known for her significant contributions to the media industry, and played a pivotal role at Flow Dominica, contributing to the growth and development of the telecommunications sector in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she captured the hearts of many as the charismatic host of the \u201cIn the SpotLight Radio Show\u201d on Q95 FM Radio. Her engaging interviews, thoughtful discussions, and vibrant personality made her a cherished figure in the hearts of her listeners.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the DCA is gearing up to host the much-anticipated Calypso semi-finals competition this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place on Saturday, January 27, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt from 8:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>The calypsonians who will compete in the semi-finals competition include some of Dominica\u2019s most revered artists. Among them are nine-time calypso King Dice, Abiyah, Observer, Black Diamond, De Webb, Jaydee, Sye, Trendsetter, Tasha P, Mighty D, Joy, King Bobb, Daddy Chess, Checker, Checko, Explosion, Shanice, De Healer, Liberator, and Oracle.<\/p>\n<p>Regular tickets cost $50 and at the gate $60. Limited seating is $20.
