He was delivering remarks during a Carnival press conference this week. The pageant is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 4, at Windsor Park Sports Stadium forecourt from 5:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>The contestants are as follows: Nyanna Stevens representing the North East Comprehensive School, Geishana Gregoire representing the Pierre Charles Secondary School, Shernia Esprit representing the Castle Bruce Secondary School, Lizanne Cuffy representing the Convent High School, Reina Joseph representing the Portsmouth Secondary School and Sherkhia Andrew representing the Dominica Grammar School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe teen pageant is a wonderful opportunity for the young people of Dominica to display and showcase their talents and skills, and use the knowledge gained in the training and preparation for the pageant as a learning experience and a stepping stone to achieve greater heights,\u201d he said. \u201cIn fact, it\u2019s good to see two former Miss Teens participate as contestants in the Miss Dominica Pageant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cThis year is the 45<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Miss Teen Dominica Pageant. We thank God for this achievement and we thank our six contestants and also the six schools who have sent their representatives to be part of the event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Lawrence, the competition also helps the teens to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem, skills in public speaking, performing arts, modeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, events like the Miss Teen support the visual and performing arts in the schools and help to provide a broader and more holistic education for our students,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The pageant will be hosted under the theme: \u201cInspiring Our Youth by Fostering Love, Peace, and Unity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important that we try to nurture these values in our youth as we would like to discourage violence and hatred in our society and instead to build a culture of peace, love, and unity,\u201d Lawrence said.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the pageant cost $20 for children standing, sitting $50, and adults standing $30.
