Neighboring country Antigua and Barbuda has been experiencing inclement weather for the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n

However, according to the latest reports from the Met Office, these conditions are expected to improve today.<\/p>\n

The frontal trough that caused the unsettled weather over the past 36 hours is moving out of the area, resulting in gradual improvements in the weather conditions.<\/p>\n

The heavy rainfall brought by the system has been mainly concentrated in the southern and central areas of Antigua, whereas Barbuda recorded less than an inch of rain.<\/p>\n

The Met Office has reported that the frontal trough will move eastwards, causing a reduction in moisture, leading to an improvement in weather conditions over these islands by today.<\/p>\n

The forecast for today (Friday) is mostly cloudy with a 60% chance of brief showers in the morning, which will become sunnier in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

The flash flood watch that was issued on Wednesday was discontinued at midday on Thursday, as there were no reports of flooding despite heavy rainfall in some areas.<\/p>\n

The region is usually impacted by these weather systems at this time of the year. However, the current system has been different.<\/p>\n

According to Lennox Josiah, a forecaster at the Met Office, there have been “enhancements” that led to the issuing of the flash flood watch on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) has not received any reports of flooding in any area, nor were there any weather-related activities to report.<\/p>\n

Some shelters were opened as a precautionary measure, but no one took up the offer to go to, or stay in these shelters.<\/p>\n
