Users of Facebook and Instagram worldwide reported problems with the apps on Wednesday just two weeks after a massive outage crippled both of them for a few hours. Hundreds of thousands of users of both apps flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to complain they were experiencing a myriad of problems. Some say they could not log in to their accounts, while others say they could not refresh the page on their accounts.<\/p>\n

“Are others having issues with Facebook? I can’t view stories or search for anything,” one person asked.<\/p>\n

“Is Facebook experiencing another outage? I posted stories, but they’re not appearing on the app or Messenger,” another wrote.<\/p>\n

Here in Dominica, some users said they could not download videos while others said the search feature on their Facebook page was not working.<\/p>\n

DownDetector<\/a>, a website that tracks social media outages around the world, said it began receiving reports of issues on both apps around 10 on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

“Facebook and Instagram are not working,” one person wrote on the site, while another asked, “Facebook and Instagram, What Happened?”<\/p>\n

“Anyone else freaks out and thinks they were being hacked?” wrote another.<\/p>\n

“The social media platforms Instagram and Facebook, both owned by Meta, are currently experiencing an outage. If you are having trouble logging in, there is no need to panic, you didn’t get hacked (I panicked too),” one more user commented.<\/p>\n

The latest problem with the two apps, which are owned by Meta, comes just two weeks after they went down for users around the world, including here in Dominica. Following reports of users experiencing issues on March 5, Meta’s Communications Director Andy Stone said on X: “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”<\/p>\n

He later added: “Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services.
