This comprehensive endeavor encompasses the revitalization of roadways and bridges, the construction of pedestrian walkways, and the augmentation of urban lighting infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Roseau Enhancement Project is well on its way,\u201d she said. \u201cAs you know we sought assistance from Saudi Arabia in the form of a loan and of course there are quite a few studies that have to be done before, although we had the preliminary designs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poponne-Skerrit pointed out that the project has been faced with some roadblocks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have faced some road blocks along the way in particular, in terms of modernizing the wires and utility companies and transitioning them to underground cables,\u201d she stated. \u201cThis has been somewhat of a challenge for us, because they are not quite ready, but we find ways to go around it. I would say this is one of our holdups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She added, \u201cBut now that we are fast-tracking the progress on this&#8230;you should see something happening very soon this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, Poponne-Skerrit indicated that the project will start up with Great George Street.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u201cWe are going to be enhancing the sidewalks, the drains are going to be fully covered, you will have a clear skyline because all the wires are going to be placed underground, the roads are going to be widened as well, everything will wheelchair accessible and there will be additional parking,\u201d she revealed. \u201cWe can look forward to it beginning later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, she said there will be the beautification aspect of the project, \u201cthe paint the town project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe will be giving an instant facelift in terms of the commercial buildings as well as the residential,\u201d Poponne-Skerrit revealed. \u00a0\u201cA paint job does wonders; it automatically uplifts an area so this is one of the things we will be working on as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She mentioned, also, that new signage and new street signs will be installed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central Constituency, Melissa Poponne-Skerrit has announced that the Roseau Enhancement Project will begin later this year.
