The list of the leaders was announced this week. Burton shared the tenth spot on the list with Michel Reinette of Guadeloupe. Top of the list is the president of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, who according to the organizers of the award, received 609 valid votes cast in the People\u2019s Choice category.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This record-breaking participation underscores the immense interest and engagement of the public in recognizing exemplary leadership within the Caribbean region,&#8221; they said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The uther leaders are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>2. Prime Minister The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley SC (Barbados)<br \/>\n3. Prime Minister The Honourable Dickon Mitchell (Grenada)<br \/>\n4. Prime Minister The Most Honourable Andrew Holness ON, PC (Jamaica)<br \/>\n5. Prime Minister The Honourable Dr. Terrance Michael Drew (St Kitts and Nevis)<br \/>\n6. Prime Minister The Honourable Ralph Everard Gonsalves (St Vincent and the<br \/>\nGrenadines)<br \/>\n7. Prime Minister The Honourable Phillip Davis (Bahamas)<br \/>\n8. Prime Minister The Honourable Dr. Keith Christopher Rowley (Trinidad and Tobago)<br \/>\n9. Prime Minister The Honourable Gaston Browne (Antigua and Barbuda)<br \/>\n10. President Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton (Dominica) and Actor Michel Reinette<br \/>\n(Guadeloupe)<\/p>\n<p>According to the Caribbean Global Awards, &#8220;each of these leaders has demonstrated remarkable dedication to their respective nations and the wider Caribbean Community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Their vision, commitment, and tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the region\u2019s progress and prosperity,&#8221; the organization said. &#8220;The Caribbean Global Awards extends its warmest congratulations to all the winners and expresses gratitude to the public for their enthusiastic participation in this important recognition process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burton created history in September last year when she became the first woman and first person of indigenous Kalinago descent to be elected President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.<\/p>\n<p>Before being elected president, she served as permanent secretary in various ministries since 2014, including the ministries of Community Development, Foreign Affairs, Trade, Youth and Social Services and the Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernization, Kalinago Upliftment, and Constituency Empowerment.<\/p>\n<p>Previously she worked as a development officer in the Ministry of Kalinago Affairs and held the position of District Development Officer (DDO) for an extended period. The mother of two also has 25 years of experience as a Justice of the Peace and has dedicated over two decades as a lay associate in the Roman Catholic Church. Her educational background includes a master\u2019s degree in Project Management and a bachelor\u2019s degree in Rural Development.<\/p>\n<p>On its website, Caribbean Global Awards congratulated all the leaders who made it to the list.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeartfelt congratulations to all of the Caribbean Leaders for being named one of the top ten Caribbean Global Leaders in the recent People\u2019s Choice category of the Caribbean Global Awards,\u201d it said. \u201cYour exceptional leadership, dedication, and significant contributions to your respective nations and the wider Caribbean community have not<br \/>\ngone unnoticed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The organization says it aims to recognize Caribbean leaders who show outstanding performance and accomplishments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Caribbean Global Awards aim is to showcase awardees from around the globe who impact change,&#8221; it said. &#8220;We also will continue to recognize our African &amp; Latin American communities &#8211; as we strengthen our diaspora links.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"President of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton, has been named among the top Caribbean Global Leaders for 2024 by the Caribbean Global Awards.
