The Convent High School (CHS) is gearing up to host the first Jazz N\u2019 Creole Fringe event dubbed \u201cSip on Songs\u201d.<\/p>\n

The exciting event presented by the UMOJA CHS Speech Chorale Sign Language Club & Choir, will take place on the CHS grounds on Saturday, April 27, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust inspired by the fact that many young people, students, have never gotten the chance to go to Jazz N\u2019 Creole and it is almost difficult for some of their parents to take them themselves for various reasons, cost included,” Educator at the Convent High School and Director of UMOJA CHS, Leandra Lander said while addressing the weekly Jazz N\u2019 Creole press conference on Wednesday. \u201cSo, we decided to bring a little Jazz N\u2019 Creole to our school so that students of different backgrounds can have a taste of what an event like that feels like.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cAnd not just to experience it, but be part of it as a performer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lander explained that the line-up is family-oriented, not just for people to attend, \u201cbut our cast of performers are family members of the Convent High School.\u201d<\/p>\n

Performances are expected from Tasha P, Janae Jackson, Carlyn XP, Michele Henderson, Marie Pascale, and Shanice, among others.<\/p>\n

Lander revealed that there will also be a performance by a surprise guest artiste from the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has agreed and sponsored her time and her talent,\u201d Lander added. \u201cWe cannot disclose yet, but as soon as we can confirm the different arrangements, we will of course let the public know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, she said at the event there will be a massage station, fashion displays, various products on sale, and a glam station to name a few.<\/p>\n

The event is open to the general public.<\/p>\n

Tickets cost $30 for adults, and $20 for students and are available at the school\u2019s office and Steddies\u00a0 in Roseau on Kings Lane.<\/p>\n
