Head of the Dominica Fire and Ambulance Services, Wayne Letang made the disclosure during a press conference on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a promise from the government and we are expecting in short time, that payments will be made for one fire truck and one ambulance,\u201d he revealed. \u201cThe fire truck comes from a company called Angloco in England and that fire truck is at the cost of just over 1 million EC dollars and the ambulance at the cost of just $110,000 US dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cThese equipment will bring good relief to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he reported that a new station is being constructed in the Grandbay area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat district is a developing district and the firefighting capabilities that we have in this area [need] improvement,\u201d he stated. \u201cThis station will bring such, as we expect more persons to be even more comfortable than we are right now with good living conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Letang indicated that the station will be constructed with two floors, the ground floor which will be operations, consisting of storerooms, the engine room, operation offices, and a meeting place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also have in that facility a decontamination bay for washing off our ambulance and the decontaminating of our equipment,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cAnd the first floor of that building will be for residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That Letang said will include; male and female barracks, and bathroom facilities for staff at all times.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he told Dominicans that, &#8220;we continue to live in a safe environment and it has been recognized of late that persons have been complaining about contacting the fire service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Letang took this opportunity to inform the nation who may be interested in contacting the fire service of the numbers of such contacts.<\/p>\n<p>The numbers and stations are listed below:<\/p>\n<p>Roseau Brigade Headquarters- 266-4400, 266-4019 or 448-2888<\/p>\n<p>Melville Hall Fire Station- 266-4610, 266-4609<\/p>\n<p>Portsmouth Fire Station- 266-5215<\/p>\n<p>Grandbay Fire Station \u2013 266-4402<\/p>\n<p>La Plaine Fire Station- 266-5433<\/p>\n<p>Castle Bruce Fire Station- 266-4668<\/p>\n<p>St Joseph Fire Station- 266-4874<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Fire and Ambulance Services has 165 employees on the island.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Dominica Fire and Ambulance Services will soon receive an additional ambulance and a fire truck that are expected to bring relief to the country.
