{"id":323478,"date":"2024-05-30T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T10:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=323478"},"modified":"2024-05-30T16:56:13","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T20:56:13","slug":"deported-american-returning-to-dominica-to-seek-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/homepage-carousel\/deported-american-returning-to-dominica-to-seek-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"Deported American returning to Dominica &#8216;to seek justice&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_323479\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-323479\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-323479\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Jason-Grogg-video-642x403.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"402\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-323479\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jason Grogg speaking in a video from the US about his trip to Dominica<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Deported American missionary, Jason Grogg, said he is returning to Dominica to seek justice which he said is a right that protected by the Constitution of Dominica.<\/p>\n<p>He told Dominica News Online about his intent to come to the island to face customs charges that were laid against him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes I will be coming back,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I have a legal right to seek justice, protected by the constitution of Dominica and declared by an even higher standard in God&#8217;s Word.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Grogg and his family were deported from Dominica in early March after they were deemed &#8220;prohibited and undesirable immigrants&#8221; whose presence on the island would be detrimental and unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>He had become embroiled in gun and customs of offense while in Dominica.<\/p>\n<p>When he was deported, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sherma Dalrymple issued a \u201cnotice of discontinuance\u201d to the court ending all matters involving him and the state.<\/p>\n<p>However, it appears that the customs charges against him were not dismissed because Dominica News Online has received confirmation that the matter will be heard in Magistrate&#8217;s Court Number 2 in Roseau on June 4.<\/p>\n<p>Grogg was arrested at the Douglas Charles Airport on those charges on May 4, 2023, en route to Barbados for three days to have a meeting with the US Consulate over his previous gun-related charges for which he was fined $25,000.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations are that he imported into Dominica, certain items including a vehicle that he allegedly still had in his possession, at the time of his arrest, under the guise of the nonprofit group, Feed My Sheep (FMS) which exempted him from payment of duties at the port.<\/p>\n<p>He was subsequently slapped with eight charges including false declaration and evasion of customs duties.<\/p>\n<p>Since he was deported, Grogg faces the possibility of being arrested when arriving in Dominica, something he is cognizant of.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So they can arrest me and we can all go before the High Court to see who is in the right,&#8221; he told Dominica News Online. &#8220;I don&#8217;t just fight this wickedness for myself but for my wife, my kids and everyone who is affected both foreign and domestic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Grogg always vowed that he would return to Dominica saying it is God&#8217;s will and that the island is now his home. However, his upcoming visit is going to be a short one since he said in a video posted to his YouTube channel that he would be arriving on June 3 at 1:35 pm and returning to the US on June 8.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Deported American missionary, Jason Grogg, said he is returning to Dominica to seek justice which he said is a right that protected by the Constitution of Dominica.
