{"id":324305,"date":"2024-06-13T12:35:21","date_gmt":"2024-06-13T16:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=324305"},"modified":"2024-06-13T12:47:18","modified_gmt":"2024-06-13T16:47:18","slug":"there-is-absolutely-no-way-that-we-are-going-to-cut-off-the-nep-dr-irving-mcintyre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/homepage-carousel\/there-is-absolutely-no-way-that-we-are-going-to-cut-off-the-nep-dr-irving-mcintyre\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;There is absolutely no way that we are going to cut off the NEP&#8217;- Dr. Irving McIntyre"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_324306\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-324306\" style=\"width: 543px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-324306 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Dr.-Irving-McIntrye-File-photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"495\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-324306\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Irving McIntyre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Finance Minister, Dr. Irving McIntyre has assured employees of the National Employment Programme (NEP) that the government has no plans of ending the programme.<\/p>\n<p>In recent times several NEP workers have been raising concerns over the issue of late payments, however, he said the programme will go on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would really want all the people working on the NEP to recognize that we understand the importance of their job to the country and there is absolutely no way that we are going to cut off the NEP,\u201d he said. \u201cJust be cool, be calm, and rest assured that the government has their back on this one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, many people have been very proud of the job that the NEP is doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government is really proud and the country should really applaud the NEP for such a good job they are doing, keeping our country clean, keeping our country green,\u201d he stated. \u201cWe just have only praise and good words for the job that the NEP has been doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Minister admitted that salaries may sometimes be delayed, \u201cbut that is nothing to say that we have any intention of cutting off the NEP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is definitely off the cards for now,\u201d Dr. McIntyre stressed.<\/p>\n<p>The NEP was introduced in 2013. Through the program, unemployed people are placed in the public and private sectors.
