Dean’s list students<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Thirteen students from Dominica have been recognized for their academic achievements by earning a spot on the dean’s list at Western Illinois University during the Spring semester of 2024. These undergraduate students, who are part of a growing cohort at the university, all achieved a commendable grade point average (GPA) of 3.6. Among them, several students even attained a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. The students who have been acknowledged for their outstanding performance are Roanne Jno Baptiste, Jeanelle R E Kerr, Naomi C P Scotland, Francine Corin Julius, Kervell Dadra Vital, Berni Hamael Servil, Marlon Moses, Najeh Sole Francis, Nashida Stacia Bertrand, Jade I S Lindsay, Rhesa Lawrence, Rose Jno Baptiste, and Sanchez Jno Baptiste.<\/p>\n

The success of Dominican and other Caribbean students in the expanding regional cohort at Western Illinois University continues to be noteworthy. More than 50 students from the sub-region were included in the Spring 2024 Dean’s List. University Provost Mark Mossman emphasized the university’s commitment to the Caribbean as a key region for developing a successful international undergraduate program. He highlighted the positive feedback received from professors regarding the students’ exceptional dedication to their academic pursuits.<\/p>\n

Typically, Dominican students commence their studies online before transitioning to on-campus learning in the United States. Scholarships at WIU are awarded based on achievements in local colleges or the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE), covering a significant portion of tuition fees for high-achieving students. Exceptional students may also have the opportunity to compete for the International Presidential Scholarship, which offers a full tuition scholarship.<\/p>\n

Dr. Randy Glean, the Associate Vice President of Global Studies at WIU, along with other university officials, will be hosting informational sessions about study and scholarship opportunities for students at the Dominica State College on Monday, June 17, at 10:00 am, and for prospective students at the Public Service Union at 5:00 pm.
