A young man from Castle Bruce has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after pleading not guilty to murder at the High Court this morning. Ronaldo Wilshire, 24, appeared before High Court Judge Colin Williams in connection with the October 2020 murder of Philip Rolle in Sylvania, Belfast.<\/p>\n

However, the defendant appeared somewhat psychologically unsettled. During his exchange with Justice Williams, it became apparent that Wilshire provided inaccurate responses to several questions, including his current age, his age at the time of the offense, and significant timelines since his arrest. He also informed the court of his inability to afford an attorney. Although the majority of witnesses were available for trial, these concerns led to the decision to adjourn the matter to ensure the defendant receives a fair trial.<\/p>\n

Educating the defendant on the general sentencing guidelines for murder, Justice Williams ordered that he seek legal consultation within seven days following Legal Aid\u2019s receipt of his deposition by September 20. Wilshire was further ordered to have a psychiatric evaluation completed by Friday, October 4, 2024.
