The police have announced new traffic arrangements to facilitate the 24th<\/sup>\u00a0Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) scheduled to take place this weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cA number of areas have been designated as no parking zones from 6:00 PM on Friday, October 25 unto Saturday and then the final day, October 27, from 1:00 PM,\u201d Assistant Commissioner of Police Jeffrey James stated while addressing a press briefing.<\/p>\n He said that the arrangement will remain in place until 6:00 AM the following morning.<\/p>\n \u201cThere will be absolutely no parking on either side of Valley Road from its intersection with Boyd Avenue,\u201d James explained. \u201cThat is [The Botanic] garden’s north-western gate to Bath Road. [And]\u00a0 on either side of River Street, from the Link Road Bridge to the Bath Estate Bridge, that is, that portion of road north of the Windsor Park Stadium.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0James mentioned further that there shall be no parking on either side of Bath Road from its junction with Kinghill\/ Morne Bruce Road to Botanic Gardens southern western gate.<\/p>\n Furthermore, he said no parking will be allowed on the southern side of Riverside Apartment Road, from the junction with Goodwill Road to the area immediately before the car park. And on either side of Kennedy Avenue from Independence Street to Bath Road.<\/p>\n James said, however,\u00a0 that some provisions will be made for parking.<\/p>\n \u201cParking will be permitted on the designated days on the northern and southern side of the link road, from the Link Road Bridge to Murphy\u2019s Lane.<\/p>\n \u201cParking will be permitted on the western side of Elmshall Road from its junction with Valley Road and Botanic Gardens [and on] the northern side of Valley Road from the old Josephine Gabriel building to the junction of Valley Road and River Street,\u201d James explained.<\/p>\n He said no entry signs will be placed on Bath Road from its junction with Cork Street.<\/p>\n \u201cIndividuals who own vehicles and are residents on Bath Road will be allowed access,\u201d James noted.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cAnd again individuals who own vehicles and are residents on Kennedy Avenue will be permitted. They will have local access only.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cBath Road from its junction with River Street individuals again, who are residents and own vehicles there will be permitted.\u201d<\/p>\n Moving on to diversion, James explained that motorists traveling north along Bath Road will be diverted south along Cork Street.<\/p>\n He indicated that motorists traveling south along the link bridge will turn east or west along River Street.<\/p>\n \u201cMotorists traveling south along Independence Street will travel west along Hillsborough Street,\u201d James stated.<\/p>\n He warned motorists that no double parking will be permitted on any road in the City.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, he said in terms of vending, \u201cno vending will be permitted to take place on Bath Road from Cork Street to River Street [and] that portion of Kennedy Avenue from Bath Road, on that portion of Hillsborough Street from Bath Road to Hillsborough Street.\u201d<\/p>\n And to continue, no vending will be allowed on the stadium link road from River Street to Valley Road.<\/p>\n The general public is being advised to pay attention to road traffic signs, wear seatbelts, and in particular motorcyclists are urged to wear appropriate gear, to include helmets, while commuting to and from the various events.<\/p>\n “Motorists, don’t drink and drive,” James advised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The police have announced new traffic arrangements to facilitate the 24th\u00a0Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) scheduled to take place this weekend. \u201cA number of areas have been designated as no parking zones from 6:00 PM on Friday,…","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":331507,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_cbd_carousel_blocks":"[]","footnotes":""},"categories":[235,9,83],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-331505","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-homepage-carousel","category-news","category-wcmf"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
