Represented by Market Masters, a group of students from the Arthur Waldron Seventh Day Adventist Academy, Dominica threw its hat in the ring for the 2024 Regional Schools Investment Competition, which serves as a platform for high school students across the Eastern Caribbean to delve into the world of investing.<\/p>\n
The competition was fierce, with talented young minds from various islands participating. Market Masters’ participation reflects the broader objective of the competition\u2014to engage students in a dynamic learning experience that inculcates an understanding of the securities market and investing principles.<\/p>\n
The conclusion of the competition saw Adelphi Enterprise of Adelphi Secondary School in St. Vincent and the Grenadines emerging as the Regional Champion, securing the top position after winning the Intra-Country segment of the competition in October. Their impressive performance throughout the competition culminated in a successful representation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the regional stage, which wrapped up on November 29.<\/p>\n
The runner-up honors went to CHSS Emerging Investors from Choiseul Secondary School in Saint Lucia, who demonstrated remarkable skill and strategic thinking. These commendable achievements exemplify the dedication and hard work of these young investors.<\/p>\n
The regional stage saw participation from a variety of schools across the Eastern Caribbean, including:<\/p>\n
1. Anguilla: Rainbow City Investors, Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.
\n2. Antigua and Barbuda: Green Magnates Enterprises, Irene B. Williams Secondary.
\n3. Dominica: Market Masters, Arthur Waldron Seventh Day Adventist Academy.
\n4. Grenada: Boys on the Hill Investment, Grenada Boys Secondary School.
\n5. St. Kitts and Nevis: Innovative Traders, Saddlers Secondary School.<\/p>\n
An awards ceremony to honor all Intra-Country and Regional winners will take place in 2025, with further details to be released in subsequent media updates. The Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE) will provide additional information and updates on its website and social media platforms.<\/p>\n
This competition is more than just a contest; it aims to create a pathway for young individuals to become informed investors and active participants in the securities market. By engaging students in this manner, the ECSE, in collaboration with the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission (ECSRC) and licensed ECSE member broker-dealers, hopes to foster a generation of future investors.<\/p>\n
According to the ECSE: “The competition was created to be a dynamic learning experience for high school and first-year college students and introduces them to investing while providing the opportunity to experience securities market activity firsthand.
