The Dominica Chess Federation organized its inaugural Under-18 Junior Chess Tournament from December 17 to December 19, 2024. A total of 25 young participants engaged in this noteworthy event, which took place at the Dominica State College. Following the completion of nine rounds of competition, the top rankings were as follows:<\/p>\n

1. Kijaney Peltier (ITSS) – 9 points
\n2. Helric Passani (Academix) – 7.5 points
\n3. Walson Pacquette (PCSS) – 6.5 points
\n4. Cajani Dejean (SMA) – 6 points<\/p>\n

Among the female participants, the leading positions were achieved by:<\/p>\n

– Ayani Casimir (CHS) – 5 points
\n– Desalee Daniel (CHS) – 5 points
\n– Kelly Huang (DGS) – 4 points<\/p>\n

The event was a testament to the dedication and preparation of all participants, contributing to the overall success of the tournament. Recognition is due to the top performers who were awarded trophies and prizes.<\/p>\n

The Dominica Chess Federation expressed satisfaction with the level of enthusiasm demonstrated by the youth, which bodes well for the future of chess on the island. Acknowledgment was extended by the organization to sponsors Springfield Trading and Tropical Shipping, who support the inter-schools chess tournament, via statement.<\/p>\n
