Today, at the dawn of a new year, 2025, we, The Dominica Diabetes Association Technical Team come together to honor strength, resilience, and determination \u2014 qualities that both those living with diabetes and their caretakers embody every single day. It’s not an easy journey, but it is one that you face with unmatched\u00a0courage.<\/p>\n
To those who live with diabetes: We want to remind you that \u2014 you are not defined by your condition.\u00a0Diabetes does not determine your worth, your capabilities, or your potential. It is a challenge, yes, but it is also\u00a0something that you meet head-on with grit and grace. Keep on making choices that prioritize your health and\u00a0well-being. You are warriors in a battle that many don\u2019t see, keep on fighting with everything you\u2019ve got.\u00a0You manage life\u2019s varied dynamics and the mental load that comes with it all \u2014 all while keeping a smile on your\u00a0face, pushing through the tough moments, and thriving in the face of adversity. You are not only surviving; you\u00a0are living, thriving, and proving that your spirit cannot be drowned or broken.<\/p>\n
To the family members and caretakers, the unsung heroes, The Dominica Diabetes Association wants to acknowledge you as well. Your love, patience, unwavering sacrifice and commitment make all the difference in\u00a0the world. You are the silent force that helps carry the weight of the burden, often with little recognition and\u00a0sometimes ingratitude but you do what you do with so much heart. You advocate, you support, and you remind\u00a0those you care for that they are not alone. You keep the light shining when the road feels too long, and you\u00a0help make the path forward a little brighter.<\/p>\n
Diabetes is something that can be managed, and no one has to do it in isolation. The Dominca Diabetes\u00a0Association is Here! There are doctors, educators, nutritionists, friends, family, and support networks ready to walk alongside you, each step of the way. For those who may feel overwhelmed by the challenges that come\u00a0with diabetes, I want you to know: you are not alone in this struggle. The moments of frustration, of doubt, are\u00a0real \u2014 but they do not define you. You are more than your struggles. You are more than the numbers on a test\u00a0result. You are more than the moments when things don\u2019t go as planned and you feel shattered in innumerable\u00a0many pieces and places.<\/p>\n
So, let\u2019s celebrate the victories, no matter how small they may seem. Each step forward, each choice that leads\u00a0you toward better health, is a victory. You are building a life, a future, despite diabetes \u2014 and that is nothing\u00a0short of incredible. Together, we can continue to push forward. We can continue to educate, to empower, and\u00a0to break the barriers that come with this condition. Let\u2019s lift each other up, raise awareness, share resources,\u00a0share hope, and share the unwavering belief that by the grace of God, we are capable of achieving anything, no\u00a0matter the challenges we face.<\/p>\n
