Of the ten countries that received the least foreign aid, Dominica was fourth receiving just $86,000.<\/p>\n
Curacao topped the list of these countries, receiving $3,000, followed by Portugal: $6,500, and Kuwait: $73,000.<\/p>\n
The remaining countries are Italy ($90,000), Norway ($93,000), Russia ($108,000), Spain ($133,000), Netherlands ($144,000) and Singapore ($304,000).<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Ukraine, Israel, and Jordan were the top three countries that received the most foreign aid from the US in 2023.<\/p>\n
Ukraine, which is presently locked in a war with Russia, received a whopping $17.2-billion. Israel, a traditional ally of the US in the Middle East, received $3.3-billion.<\/p>\n
Jordan, another US ally in the Middle East, got $1.7-billion. The other countries that received the most foreign aid from the US are Egypt ($1.5B), Ethiopia ($1.5B), Somalia ($1.2B), Nigeria ($1B), Congo (Kinshasa) ($990M), Afghanistan ($886.5M) and Kenya ($846M).<\/p>\n
A website run by the US State Department and the US Agency for International Development, ForeignAssistance.gov, describes foreign assistance as including \u201cactivities funded from appropriations accounts that are made available for assistance for foreign countries, international organizations, and other foreign entities, which may include funds, goods, services, and technical assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the US News and World Report, foreign aid from the US is made with a specific cause in mind.
\n“The money could be spent for humanitarian relief, health care, infrastructure, education, military aid and more,” it said. Countries involved in ongoing conflicts typically receive significant amounts of military aid, while countries experiencing a humanitarian crisis might receive aid in that area \u2013 or in health or infrastructure.”<\/p>\n
