Pope Francis has declared the year 2025 as a Jubilee year\u2014a holy period dedicated to renewal, reflection, and grace within the Catholic Church. Jubilees are observed every 25 years, and the theme for this upcoming Jubilee is \u201cPilgrims of Hope.\u201d This special year aims to inspire hope in a world grappling with the consequences of conflict, the enduring effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and challenges posed by climate change.<\/p>\n

The Jubilee officially commenced on December 24, 2024, with the ceremonial opening of the Holy Door and continues until January 6, 2026. In the Diocese of Roseau, the Jubilee was inaugurated on December 29, 2024, at the Our Lady of Fair Haven Cathedral Chapel, presided over by Bishop Kendrick Forbes. This Jubilee year also marks the 175th anniversary of the Diocese of Roseau, extending its celebrations from January 2025 through April 2026.<\/p>\n

For pilgrims worldwide, this is a rare chance to undertake a spiritual pilgrimage. Throughout the Jubilee, the Diocese has planned various special activities. Among them is the inauguration of four holy sites where believers can visit for prayer, worship, adoration, and reconciliation, and to receive unique blessings and plenary indulgences. The Jubilee serves as a time of grace in the Catholic Church, granting the faithful an opportunity to earn forgiveness for themselves or their departed loved ones.<\/p>\n

Visitors are welcome at these sacred locations as individuals, families, prayer groups, church organizations, or social circles. The first sacred site, the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette Church in St. Luke\u2019s Parish, Pointe Michel, will be inaugurated on Saturday, February 1, 2025, with a Mass at 10 AM. All are encouraged to partake in this moment of divine grace.<\/p>\n
