Obviously, depending on the weather, because you know the weather patterns play a big part in how we can continue the program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Dr. McIntyre, this is going to be a major game changer in Dominica\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said the project will be of great benefit for cruise ship visitors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cA lot of the cruise ship visitors would not be able to get to the Boiling Lake, [however] with the cable car the opportunity to get to the Boiling Lake is accessible to them&#8230;,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. McIntyre continued, \u201cIn a short period, within 15 to 20 minutes you can be at the Boiling Lake site.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added, \u201cSo you can imagine all \u00a0[2000 to 4000] cruises coming in, they can get to the Boiling Lake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, he stated that this project will generate income not just in the Roseau Valley, but in the country as a whole.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThat in itself markets Dominica, because everyone who gets to the Boiling Lake will say that\u2019s the longest cable car in the world, what a great experience as well as the Boiling Lake, the second largest Boiling Lake in the world,\u201d Dr. McIntyre noted. \u201cIt\u2019s really just the multiple effects of things that can come out from our cable car [and] we are really looking forward to this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, he explained persons can travel on the cable car to visit the Boiling Lake and can choose to hike to get back or hike to the Boiling Lake and use the cable car to return.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. McIntyre said that there will be many restaurants along the way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said also that the tour guides, vendors, and restaurant owners will benefit tremendously.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Austrian ropeways and cable cars manufacturer, Doppelmayr Group has been contracted to build the 6.6-kilometre-long (4.1-mile) gondola\/cable car project in the Roseau Valley, which upon completion is expected to be the longest in the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an article posted on Dominica News Online (DNO) on March 1, 2023, The Associate Times reported that Outdoor Engineers, (a European company based in Switzerland) conducted a feasibility survey in Dominica, which revealed that the completion of the cable car project would result in a three-fold increase in the country\u2019s tourism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 10-passenger detachable gondola would provide visitors with a \u201cfast, reliable and comfortable means of visiting the national park in less than 20 minutes,\u2019 according to the international website \u201cZenger\u201d which first announced,\u00a0 on August 29, 2022, that Doppelmayr had been hired to build the project by 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hospitality and shopping facilities focusing on the Caribbean island\u2019s distinctive local features will be incorporated at the bottom station, according to the Austrian company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Austrian corporation\u2019s website states that at the bottom station, there will be integrated hospitality and retail facilities emphasising Dominica\u2019s unique local characteristics, while a caf\u00e9 with a panoramic terrace, a viewing platform, and a six-meter (19-foot) statue of Dominica\u2019s national bird, the Sisserou Parrot, will also be located near the top station.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The construction of the world\u2019s longest cable car which is ongoing in the Roseau Valley, is expected to be completed in 2026.
