On Friday, February 21, 2025, the Diocese of Roseau will inaugurate its fourth sacred pilgrimage site as part of the celebrations for the Jubilee year 2025. The ceremony will commence at 5:30 PM with a procession at the entrance of the Salybia Roman Catholic Church, located in the parish of Our Lady of Health. This will be followed by a Eucharistic celebration at 6:00 PM.<\/p>\n
This is according to a press release issued by the Bishop Arnold Boghaert Catholic Centre.<\/p>\n
The establishment of four pilgrimage sites\u2014the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Point Michel, St. Francis Xavier in La Plaine, St. Peter’s Church in Colihaut, and the Salybia Roman Catholic Church\u2014provides a consecrated environment for the faithful to engage in prayer, praise, adoration, and reconciliation, while also offering the opportunity to receive special graces and a plenary indulgence, shared the statement.<\/p>\n
It further states that the Jubilee represents a unique year of grace during which the Catholic Church extends the opportunity for the faithful to obtain a plenary indulgence, granting forgiveness of sins for themselves or their deceased loved ones. The Jubilee for 2025 commenced on December 24, 2024, with the opening of the Holy Door and will continue until January 6, 2026.<\/p>\n
In the Diocese of Roseau, the Jubilee year was officially inaugurated on December 29, 2024, at the Our Lady of Fair Haven Cathedral Chapel by His Lordship Bishop Kendrick Forbes. This Jubilee also aligns with the 175th Anniversary of the Diocese of Roseau and will therefore extend from January 2025 through April 2026.<\/p>\n
All individuals, families, prayer groups, church organizations, and work or friendship groups are encouraged by the church to visit these sacred sites within our diocese.<\/p>\n
Pope Francis has designated 2025 as a Jubilee year\u2014a time for renewal, reflection, and grace within the Catholic Church. A Jubilee is celebrated every twenty-five years. The theme for Jubilee 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope,” emphasizing a year of hope for a world grappling with the ramifications of war, the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the climate crisis.<\/p>\n
