The Rehabilitation of the Loubiere to Bagatelle Road Project, initiated by the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica (GoCD), with the financial support of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), has officially begun. This endeavor marks a significant move towards the nation\u2019s goal of creating a transport system that is both climate-resilient and responsive to gender needs, said a press release from the government.<\/p>\n

Initially planned to span 16.0 km from Loubiere to Bagatelle, the project has been reorganized into several phases to better manage resources. The first phase will concentrate on the rehabilitation of the section from Loubiere to Berekua, while the subsequent stretch from Berekua to Bagatelle will be addressed as additional funding becomes available. Also, a 0.3 km extension from Bagatelle to Fond St. Jean is part of the overall project scope, outlined the statement.<\/p>\n

The contract for this initiative has been awarded to the joint venture of Sotradom\/Offshore Civil & Marine Inc.<\/p>\n

The project’s scope includes the following key tasks:<\/p>\n

– Construction of five bridges
\n– Stabilization of slopes
\n– Installation of culverts and drainage systems
\n– Rehabilitation of the road surface<\/p>\n

Completion of the project is anticipated within a timeframe of 18 months.<\/p>\n

The general public is informed that the Phase I road rehabilitation works on the Loubiere to Bagatelle Road will begin today, February 25, 2025. Initial operations will start from Grand Bay and proceed towards Pichelin, specifically focusing on the Pichelin Bridge first.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, ongoing road surveys will continue throughout the project’s duration. Road users, particularly drivers, are urged to exercise caution and adhere to all posted traffic regulations.<\/p>\n

The government appreciates the community’s patience and understanding and apologizes for any inconveniences this project may cause. This initiative is in line with Dominica\u2019s overarching goal of enhancing infrastructure resilience to ensure the provision of safe, sustainable, and inclusive transportation for all citizens, concluded the statement.<\/p>\n
