The Diocese of Roseau has initiated a logo design contest to celebrate its 175th anniversary, coinciding with the upcoming Jubilee year from 2025 to 2026. This announcement was detailed in a recent press release from the Diocese of Roseau.<\/p>\n
Open to young, imaginative individuals between the ages of 12 and 35, the Faith Logo Competition invites participants to create a logo that captures the essence of the theme “175 Years of Faith” while creatively integrating the Universal Jubilee Year logo of the Church. This milestone serves as a significant occasion for reflection and celebration within the Catholic community, says the statement.<\/p>\n
The competition offers a monetary reward of Five Hundred Eastern Caribbean Dollars (EC$500) to the winner.<\/p>\n
This logo competition is part of the broader activities planned by the Diocese of Roseau in alignment with the Jubilee year declared by Pope Francis. The Jubilee year, marking a sacred period of renewal and grace, according to the church, is celebrated every 25 years. The overarching theme for the Jubilee in 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope,” which seeks to emphasize a message of optimism in light of global challenges such as conflict, the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and climate change.<\/p>\n
The Jubilee celebrations commenced with the opening of the Holy Door on December 24, 2024, and will extend until January 6, 2026. In the Diocese of Roseau, the festivities officially began on December 29, 2024, at the Our Lady of Fair Haven Cathedral Chapel, officiated by His Lordship Bishop Kendrick Forbes. This Jubilee year will run from January 2025 through April 2026, celebrating the diocese’s 175 years of existence.<\/p>\n
Four designated pilgrimage sites have been established, including Our Lady of La Salette in Point Michel, St. Francis Xavier in La Plaine, St. Peter’s Church in Colihaut, and the Salybia Roman Catholic Church. The church describes these locations as serving as sacred spaces for the faithful to engage in prayer, adoration, reconciliation, and to receive special graces and plenary indulgences.<\/p>\n
Numerous other activities are planned throughout this special Jubilee year, which presents an opportunity for the community. As the diocese prepares for the Jubilee celebrations in 2025 and 2026, it encourages the public to contribute their time, talents, and resources to ensure the success of the planned events.<\/p>\n
