Executive Director of the Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) Justinn Kase is confident that Dominica\u2019s Geothermal Power Plant will be completed by December 2025.<\/p>\n
He made the disclosures during a press conference held recently.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe IRC carried out a visit to the geothermal site sometime last month and we are confident, I won\u2019t say for Christmas, I would say December 2025, but if it comes for Christmas better yet,\u201d Kase said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the Geothermal Plant is being built by a private investor so they have a reputation to uphold, \u201cand therefore they have engaged Chinese firms that work day and night, so the only way that can happen from my perspective and my outlook is if the day and night continues.\u201d<\/p>\n
He explained that the turbines are already on site and are going to be installed as soon as the parts to accommodate them are ready.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey carried them up there the last few weekends before Carnival,\u201d he revealed. \u201cThe next step, when the turbines are up, the cooling systems are up, it\u2019s just the piping from the production well to transfer the steam.<\/p>\n
This Kase said will happen in \u201cquick time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are moving fast and by the end of this month if you go there you will see significant progress,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
On February 26, 2025, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said through a Facebook Post that the Geothermal Power Plant is on schedule for completion in December 2025.<\/p>\n
He explained that the Plant will provide clean, renewable energy to the Dominica Electricity Services (DOMLEC) electricity grid through a new transmission network, leading to lower electricity rates for consumers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWork is progressing rapidly on the condensers, which cool and convert the working fluid vapour back to liquid phase as well as the Ormat Energy Converters (OECs),\u201d Skerrit explained.<\/p>\n
