Hector John MP – Salisbury<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Hector John, former MP for Salisbury, has publicly addressed the police’s recent attempts to search his residence following his participation in a protest advocating for electoral reform. In a radio interview, John vehemently denied allegations made by National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore, who suggested that John instigated the blockage of the E O Leblanc Highway this morning.<\/p>\n

John recounted a distressing encounter at his home late last night when police attempted to forcibly enter his property.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey traumatized my son when they came in around 8:30 PM, banging on the door and trying to break in. I went live on Facebook, and they ran,\u201d he explained, indicating that the police have not returned since that incident.<\/p>\n

The former MP expressed his concerns for his family\u2019s safety and criticized the police’s tactics, stating, \u201cWhat Mr. Blackmoore was saying didn’t happen. I think what the police did caused the situation to escalate. Nobody wants that.\u201d He said one of the police officers attempted to gain entry with a knife, and described another man armed with a high-powered assault rifle who was hiding on his porch.<\/p>\n

In response to Blackmoore’s allegations, John stated, \u201cI was there for some time but left early due to feeling unwell. They see me as a target, as a scapegoat.\u201d He said that he would not be intimidated and indicated that he had begun to inform international human rights organizations about the situation, recalling a similar incident in 2019 that had also drawn attention from the Human Rights Committee in Geneva.<\/p>\n

John urged his community to remain calm and not to react violently to the ongoing tensions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will advise my community and others to stay home and lie low,\u201d he said, while also reaffirming his commitment to standing up for what he believes in. \u201cA real man stands for something; if you stand for nothing, you fall for anything,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

John expressed gratitude for the support from his community and the international community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will not let anyone intimidate me. I have my principles and values, and I will continue to stand for my country,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n
