Dominica\u2019s Jeriah Lewis delivered an outstanding performance on Sunday, April 20, at the ongoing 2025 CARIFTA Games, achieving a new personal best of 7.06 metres in the Boys\u2019 Under-20 Long Jump.<\/span><\/p>\n

Competing against a strong field of 20 athletes from across the Caribbean, Lewis finished fifth overall, cementing his position as one of the region\u2019s top young jumpers. His impressive leap not only earned him a commendable placement but also marked a significant milestone in his athletic career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel proud of myself. It was quite challenging out there, but I still put my best foot forward and competed for my country,\u201d Lewis stated. \u201cBack at home, I was jumping mid-six metres, so today\u2019s jump of 7.06 metres is a huge step forward, and I\u2019m really proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lewis also reflected on areas for improvement. He acknowledged that his approach and take-off technique could be refined to enhance his performance further.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know I could\u2019ve done better, especially getting my feet properly on the board and improving both my distance and height,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I\u2019m committed to working harder to improve and come back even stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n

His performance has been an inspiring highlight for Team Dominica, which has seen several athletes showcase determination and excellence on the regional stage throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n
