Dominica\u2019s rising star in sprinting, Kerelle Etienne, showcased her abilities and grit at the 52nd CARIFTA Games on Saturday, representing her country in the Girls\u2019 Under-20 100m race.<\/p>\n

Dominica Athletics Association stated that at the semi-finals, Etienne put forth a remarkable effort, finishing third in her heat with a time of 11.76 seconds. Despite her strong performance, she fell short of qualifying for the final round.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her experience, Etienne expressed, \u201cI feel great since this is my first Under-20. It\u2019s not what I expected, but I still did great.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also acknowledged the mix of emotions she felt before the semi-finals, stating she was \u201cquite confident and nervous\u201d at the same time.<\/p>\n

Though she did not make it to the finals, the DAA lauded Kerelle’s hard work, commitment, and promising capabilities. Her journey serves as an inspiration to younger athletes in Dominica, emphasizing what can be achieved through determination and effort, said the statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne positive takeaway from today is to not give up and to run through the line,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n

The Girls\u2019 Under-20 100m crown was ultimately won by Jamaica’s Shanoya Douglas, who finished the final with an impressive time of 11.26 seconds.<\/p>\n
