Justice Shawn Innocent<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) Justice Shawn Innocent, who is currently assigned to the Criminal Division in Grenada, was formally charged on April 28, 2025, with the indictable offence of \u201cassault with a deadly instrument.\u201d According to a press statement by the ECSC, this is contrary to section 176(e) of the Grenadian Criminal Code.<\/p>\n

Justice Innocent was granted bail following the charge and is scheduled to appear in court to respond to the allegations. As the legal proceedings unfold, the ECSC indicated that it has taken immediate steps to address the situation.<\/p>\n

In accordance with judicial protocols, Justice Innocent has been temporarily de-rostered from his duties, with another judge being assigned to assume Justice Innocent\u2019s responsibilities in the Criminal Court, effective June 1, 2025.<\/p>\n
