Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) has announced that Dominica has been invited once again to participate in the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association\u2019s (FCCA) annual Essay and Poster Competitions for 2025. These competitions aim to promote tourism awareness among youth while encouraging creativity and critical thinking.<\/p>\n
According to a recent press release from the DDA, the 2025 Essay Competition will focus on the theme: *”If I were a cruise passenger, what would I like to see or do in my country?”<\/p>\n
The Environmental Poster Competition will revolve around the theme:\u00a0 “How to protect the marine environment from land-based activities.”*<\/p>\n
The competitions are divided into two categories:<\/p>\n
– Junior Division: Children aged 12 and under (contestants must not have reached their 13th birthday by September 26, 2025).
\n– Senior Division: Children aged 13 to 16 (contestants must not have reached their 17th birthday by September 26, 2025).<\/p>\n
The DDA instructs that all entries are to be submitted through participating schools, with each school encouraged to submit one entry per category (Junior and Senior) to the Discover Dominica Authority by Monday, June 30, 2025. The FCCA will announce the winners on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.<\/p>\n
Prizes for winners in each category of both competitions include:
\n– First Place: Laptop (USD $3,000) and a school grant
\n– Second Place: Touchscreen device (USD $1,500)
\n– Third Place: Smartphone (USD $1,000)<\/p>\n
Additionally, all finalists, excluding the top three in each category, will receive a consolation prize of USD $200 from the FCCA.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Tourism, working in partnership with the Discover Dominica Authority, encourages students across the island to participate. The initiative seeks to promote tourism education, increase environmental awareness, and motivate future leaders to take pride in the country\u2019s offerings.<\/p>\n
Schools are encouraged to support their students by fostering creativity, providing guidance, and promoting a spirit of excellence.<\/p>\n
