In a joint effort to promote health and wellness among Dominicans, the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports and Community Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services, will host a Health and Wellness Fair, dubbed *”Highway to Health”*. The initiative aligns with the government\u2019s commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities, as Dominica aims to become the world\u2019s first climate-resilient nation.<\/p>\n

The highly anticipated event will take place on Friday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. along the Bayfront in Roseau, bringing together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to offer free health services and educational sessions to all attendees.<\/p>\n

According to Letitia Lestrade Wyke, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports and Community Development, strategic partnerships play an essential role in promoting healthier communities. She emphasized that tackling non-communicable diseases (NCDs) requires a collaborative approach beyond just the health sector.<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services, Dr. Kyra Paul, encouraged the public to take advantage of the event, stating, “We are bringing the clinic to the people\u2014offering screenings, consultations, and education to reach those who may not visit health centers regularly.”<\/p>\n

The fair will offer a comprehensive range of health services, including:
\n– General medical consultations
\n– Pap smears and breast exams
\n– Prostate exams
\n– Blood sugar and blood pressure checks
\n– Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments
\n– Endocrinology and nutrition evaluations
\n– Educational sessions on chronic disease prevention and management<\/p>\n

Attendees will receive a “Wellbeing Passport” following their consultations, helping them track their personal health information.<\/p>\n

To cap off the event, participants will be invited to join a high-energy cardio jam session from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., featuring a nostalgic jump rope section, to encourage fitness and fun.<\/p>\n

The collaborating ministries urge all citizens to attend the Health and Wellness Fair \u2013 “Highway to Health”, taking proactive steps toward a healthier future.<\/p>\n
