A man who is said to be mentally challenged was shot by a police officer in the town of Portsmouth today.<\/p>\n

According to police reports, the man was armed with a cutlass and attacked a police officer.<\/p>\n

Police say the victim was shot in the leg in self-defense.<\/p>\n

Reports further stated that after being\u00a0shot\u00a0in one leg\u00a0\u00a0he\u00a0continued to advance on the police with the cutlass, \u201cand even when he was shot in the other leg he didn’t stop and continued to resist the police.\u201d<\/p>\n
