The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) actively took part in the 8th Water Operators’ Conference, held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from June 25 to 27, 2025, under the theme of\u00a0 \u201cEmpowering Water Utility Operators: A Pathway to Sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n

GWP-C states that it is “committed to supporting Caribbean countries in the sustainable management of their water resources by fully promoting and applying Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the region.”<\/p>\n

The organization issued a press release sharing the details of the event, which was organized by the Caribbean Water and Sewerage Association (CAWASA) in partnership with the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.<\/p>\n

Representing GWP-C, Programme Assistant Mr. Kerron Martinez participated in the proceedings,\u00a0 reporting that he gained valuable insights into pressing issues facing the water sector. These included challenges such as non-revenue water (NRW), limited awareness and understanding of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), climate change risk mitigation, and the critical importance of operator training and certification.<\/p>\n

Mr. Martinez highlighted the significance of the gathering, stating, \u201cThis was a valuable meeting to promote Integrated Water Resources Management and build relationships and visibility within the regional water-utility community.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the conference helped reinforce strategic objectives aligned with the GWP Global Strategy.<\/p>\n

During the sessions, participants identified several urgent priorities, including the need to enhance IWRM knowledge, improve disaster preparedness, expand nature-based solutions, adopt innovative technologies, and foster regional cooperation to support policy reforms and increase access to financing.<\/p>\n

The event culminated with a practical field visit to the Aqua Clara Water Treatment Plant, one of St. Vincent\u2019s key facilities, which supplies clean water to approximately 50,000 residents.<\/p>\n

GWP-C stated that it extends its heartfelt gratitude to CAWASA and CWSA for their organization of this impactful workshop.<\/p>\n
