A new minimum wage for Dominica will take effect on October 1. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit made the announcement during a press conference on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government has appointed the advisory board, the Acting Minister of Labour Honourable Pinard reported to the Cabinet that he met with the board a couple weeks ago, and the board is doing its work. The mandate is that a report should come to us in September so that a new minimum wage will take effect in Dominica on October 1,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cSo we are hoping that they can do their work diligently and judiciously to provide the minister with advice on what they believe will be a fair rate for minimum wage in Dominica, of various categories of workers.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Skerrit, the mandate by the parliament is for the government to give effect to a minimum wage on October 1, 2025.<\/p>\n
