The Dominica Meteorological Service has confirmed that the tropical wave previously monitored in the central tropical Atlantic has developed into Tropical Depression Number 7 as of 5:00 AM today, Wednesday, 17 September 2025. The system is currently located approximately 1,185 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving westward at 13 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, with higher gusts reported.<\/p>\n

Forecast models indicate a west-northwestward to northwestward motion over the coming days. Gradual strengthening is anticipated, and the depression may intensify into a tropical storm later today or tonight. On its projected path, the system is expected to pass north of the northern Leeward Islands by the weekend. The public is advised to closely monitor official updates as the situation evolves.<\/p>\n

In addition to the developing tropical system, unstable atmospheric conditions linked to an upper-level trough are expected to increase cloudiness and scattered showers, particularly across islands north of Dominica throughout the day. Locally, light winds and elevated daytime temperatures may contribute to enhanced cloud formation and scattered showers, with a possibility of isolated thunderstorms by afternoon.<\/p>\n

Marine conditions are forecast to remain slight to moderate over the next few days. Wave heights may reach up to 3 feet along Dominica\u2019s west coast and up to 5 feet along the east coast.
