Dominica’s Minister of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training, and National Excellence, Honourable Octavia Alfred, is set to assume the position of Chair of the OECS Council of Ministers: Education. This transition will take place during the upcoming 10th Meeting of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Council of Ministers for Education (COM:Edu), scheduled for September 25\u201326, 2025. The event will be hosted at the State House Conference Center in Roseau, as outlined by a Ministry of Education media release.<\/p>\n

Ministers of Education and senior officials from the OECS member states will gather to engage in discussions, focused on advancing the objectives outlined in the OECS Education Sector Strategy (OESS) for the years 2012\u20132026. Crafted specifically to address the distinct challenges faced by Small Island Developing States, officials say that the OESS offers a framework aimed at fostering effective change in education across the region.<\/p>\n

On the meeting agenda, reported the education ministry, is active dialogue aiming to promote the exchange of knowledge regarding shared priorities. Key topics will include inclusive education, the enhancement of learning outcomes, and comprehensive system reforms. Additionally, participants will collaborate with development partners and regional agencies to strengthen collective efforts on various educational initiatives.<\/p>\n

This 2025 edition of the Council of Ministers: Education (COM:Edu) will serve as a vital platform for promoting the regional educational development agenda.<\/p>\n

Aligned with the broader goal of sustainable human development, the objective is to transform educational systems across the OECS by aligning national efforts with the strategic priorities of the OECS Education Strategy (OESS).
