World Tourism Day has been held on 27th, September each year since 1980, highlighting the importance of tourism in fostering global understanding and promoting sustainable practices.<\/p>\n

Today, on\u00a0World Tourism Day, we reaffirmed Dominica’s position as a resilient and innovative tourism destination,\u201d Tourism Minister Denise Charles-Pemberton said during a statement. \u201cTourism is not just an industry, it is a national mission that empowers communities, sustains livelihoods\u00a0and promotes the unique identity of our nature island.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to her, in recent years, Dominica has emerged stronger from the challenges of the global pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment’s commitment to expanding air access, improving infrastructure and advancing sustainable practices is now bearing fruit,\u201d she stated. \u201cWith weekly service by United Airlines, daily flights by American Airlines and expanded regional routes through Contour Airlines and Caribbean Airlines, Dominica is certainly more accessible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Charles-Pemberton added that the\u00a0extension and grooving of the Douglas-\u00a0Charles\u00a0Airport\u2019s\u00a0runway is a landmark achievement, enhancing safety and preparing the island for larger aircraft upon completion of\u00a0the islands\u00a0international airport.<\/p>\n

\u201cCruise tourism continues to thrive, generating opportunities for vendors, tour operators, farmers, and cultural performers across the island. Aquatorism. supported by Dominica’s pristine waters and world-class diving and whale watching is solidifying our reputation as the Caribbean’s premier eco-marine destination,\u201d she emphasized.<\/p>\n

Charles-Pemberton also indicated that cultural tourism also stands tall with the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), Dominica\u2019s bouyon music other signature events energizing the youth, fostering pride and attracting thousands of visitors each year.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, these pillars of air, cruise, marine and cultural tourism create a diversified product that benefits every Dominican,\u201d she asserted.<\/p>\n

She said tourism is powered by collaboration\u00a0between government, the private sector, \u00a0cultural groups\u00a0and the\u00a0diaspora.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough fiscal incentives, training, and strategic policies, government ensures that the gains of tourism reach every household,\u201d Charles-Pemberton stated. \u201c\u00a0As we celebrate World Tourism Day, Dominica stands proudly on a path from recovery to renewal, and now to resilience.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201c\u00a0Our mission is clear. To secure Dominica’s place as a world-class destination rooted in authenticity, sustainability, and shared prosperity. Happy World Tourism Day.\u201d<\/p>\n
