The Waitukubuli Artist Association (WAA), in collaboration with Prevo Cinemall, has announced a landmark addition to Dominica\u2019s Creol\u00e9 Season calendar: a vibrant art exhibition titled Paradise of Colours and Expressions<\/em>. The showcase will run from October 10 to November 14, 2025, at the historic Prevo Cinemall, formerly The Carib Cinema, in Roseau.<\/p>\n

Timed to coincide with Dominica\u2019s Independence and Creol\u00e9 Season celebrations, the exhibition will feature the work of 23 Dominican artists across various mediums, including painting, photography, and poetry. According to WAA Public Relations Officer Ms. Aileen Joseph, the event is designed to honor and elevate the island\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

\u201cParadise of Colours and Expressions marks the collective\u2019s first exhibition centered on the theme of Cultural Heritage and the celebration of Dominica\u2019s rich history,\u201d Ms. Joseph said. \u201cRhythm, language, and tradition take center stage, reimagined through contemporary art.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exhibition follows the success of Echoes of Resilience<\/em>, a joint effort between WAA and Prevo Cinemall held during the 2024 Christmas season, which drew over 700 visitors. Ms. Joseph noted that many attendees requested a repeat event, prompting the return of the collaboration.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike its predecessor, WAA promises once again to transform the familiar space of the Prevo Cinemall into a living canvas, where art and tradition merge to tell one of Dominica\u2019s greatest stories ever told,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Prevo Cinemall General Manager Ms. Vanessa Prevost praised the artists for their dedication and the high caliber of their work.<\/p>\n

\u201cEchoes of Resilience was an exhibition of very high international standards. Our artists really made Dominica proud,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ms. Prevost also reflected on last year\u2019s tribute to the late Earl Darius Ettiene, one of Dominica\u2019s most distinguished artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarl must have been smiling to see that his many years of hard work tutoring and mentoring did not go in vain, but was bearing abundant fruit,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n

The upcoming exhibition promises an immersive experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cParadise of Colours and Expressions offers visitors an immersive experience of storytelling, placemaking, and remembrance, where color is more than pigment\u2014it is identity, resilience, and celebration,\u201d Ms. Joseph stated. \u201cIt is a paradise not built on escape, but on the richness of who we are as a people and where we come from. It is a paradise rooted in home.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of the exhibition, a special event titled Lyrics Under the Stars<\/em> will be held on the evening of October 11, 2025, at the Prevo Cinemall.<\/p>\n

Paradise of Colours and Expressions<\/em> is free and open to the public, with viewing hours from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The exhibition is closed on Sundays. Contributions are welcome, and both locals and visitors are encouraged to attend and support Dominican artistry.<\/p>\n
