The GEMS Foundation has announced an extension for the application deadline of the 2025 Phillip Nassief Entrepreneurship Challenge, now set for December 8, 2025.<\/p>\n

The GEMS team shared via release that the decision to extend the deadline was made to enable a greater number of entrepreneurs to benefit from the competition\u00a0 by providing more time for entrants across Dominica to finalize and submit their entries. Recognizing the busy Creole season\u2014a lively period that involves many small businesses engaged in food, hospitality, culture, tourism, and entertainment\u2014the Foundation said that it seeks to ensure these entrepreneurs have a fair and accessible chance to participate after the festivities conclude.<\/p>\n

Supported by the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC), the Phillip Nassief Entrepreneurship Challenge continues to honor the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation associated with the late Phillip Nassief\u2019s legacy. The initiative primarily aims to empower small enterprises involved in Dominica\u2019s hospitality and tourism sectors, including food and beverage, agro-processing, wellness, technology, transportation, marketing, and other related fields that contribute to the local economy.<\/p>\n

Following the extended submission window, the judging process will wrap up on January 28, 2026. From there, seven top applicants will be selected to advance to the final stage \u2014 the LIVE Ultimate Pitching Challenge scheduled for February 19, 2026. Prior to this event, finalists will participate in a pitch preparation and mentoring session led by seasoned business and innovation professionals, designed to help them sharpen their presentations and refine their business models.<\/p>\n

The competition\u2019s top three winners will receive monetary awards to support their business development: EC$20,000 for first place, EC$15,000 for second, and EC$10,000 for third. These funds are intended to aid in business growth, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n

The GEMS Foundation encourages all applicants who have already begun their submissions to review and complete their applications, ensuring all necessary documents are submitted by the new deadline. This extension offers an opportunity for entrepreneurs who may have missed the original cutoff to participate and join this empowering initiative.<\/p>\n
