{"id":351025,"date":"2025-10-24T17:22:40","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T21:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=351025"},"modified":"2025-10-24T17:22:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T21:22:40","slug":"venue-operations-center-part-of-police-coordination-for-wcmf25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/homepage-carousel\/venue-operations-center-part-of-police-coordination-for-wcmf25\/","title":{"rendered":"Venue Operations Center part of police coordination for WCMF25"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_351026\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-351026\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-351026\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-2-642x319.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"318\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-351026\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Assistant Commissioner of Police, Alleyne Maximea<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Venue Operation Center will be established at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium and will be manned by several senior officials from various institutions to serve patrons who may require assistance during the staging of the 25th Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).<\/p>\n<p>This was according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alleyne Maximea, who was addressing a press conference this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the site of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, a Venue Operation Center will be manned by a number of senior\u00a0 officials from various institutions to include the Discover Dominica Authority,\u201d he said. \u201c A \u00a0police command center will also be established and located at the Volcanoes&#8217; office on the ground floor of the Clem John and Kelleb Laurent stand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201c This is to allow for patrons who require assistance from the police.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Maximea said the Windsor Park Sports Stadium venue for the festival has been demarcated into three zones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c Zone 1, which is all the entry and exit gates, in and out of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium. Zone 2, which comprises of the media center, \u00a0party area, stage area, \u00a0and the backstage [and] Zone 3 grounds are the front stage and players&#8217; pavilion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said entry into those areas will only be allowed to individuals having the relevant passes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnsure that you have the right pass for the right zone,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n<p>Maximea went on to add that there will be four pre-screening areas set up at Hillsborough Street, Bath Road, and Cork Street, Kennedy Avenue, and River Street.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe officers at the pre-screening points will be briefed to allow only individuals with tickets or the accreditation to enter through the security barriers,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cWe are asking that all patrons have your tickets or accreditation in hand \u00a0to present to the searchers when required to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patrons are being reminded to ensure that they are at the correct gate before joining the queue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will expedite the processing time at the various entrances,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Maximea warns patrons that no prohibited items are allowed into the venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirearms, \u00a0of course, \u00a0firearms, and ammunition. And that is even if the person in possession of those firearms is a licensed firearm user,\u201d he remarked. \u201c Therefore, \u00a0the police are urging all firearm users to secure your firearms before coming to the park. In simple words, \u00a0do not come to the park with your firearm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that illegal drugs will also be prohibited.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Knives, weapons, cutlasses, scissors, \u00a0ice picks, \u00a0cigarette lighters,\u00a0 and any other item that can be deemed as offensive weapons,\u201d Maximea warned. \u201cPeople, \u00a0please leave all weapons at home.
