The Government of Dominica, via the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, has announced the commencement of a Rental Housing Survey starting November 24, 2025. The ministry, via press release, stated that this initiative aims to include both property owners and tenants to collect vital information that will support the creation and effective functioning of the upcoming Tenancy and Rent Commission.<\/p>\n
According to this release, during the 2024\u20132025 National Budget Address, the government reaffirmed its commitment to establishing the Tenancy and Rent Commission, as part of its broader efforts to enhance the housing sector. This new body is expected to serve a pivotal role in offering increased protections for landlords and tenants alike, preventing potential abuses, and guaranteeing access to housing that is safe, secure, and affordable throughout the nation.<\/p>\n
The data gathered from this survey will be instrumental in guiding the Commission\u2019s efforts to address significant issues within the rental housing market, said the ministry. These include strengthening safeguards for both landlords and tenants, establishing and upholding housing standards, and fostering a rental system that is fair, transparent, and equitable for all parties involved.<\/p>\n
The housing ministry said it is urging “all landlords and tenants to participate in this important national exercise.”<\/p>\n
“Your input is vital to shaping a modern, fair, and balanced rental housing system for Dominica,” it concluded.<\/p>\n
