Finance Focus Inc. has launched an innovative children’s financial literacy series in Dominica, titled “Making Sense of Dollars \u2013 Money Lessons for Little Learners.”<\/p>\n

This six-part book series is designed to introduce young children to fundamental financial concepts in an engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant manner, explained a press release.<\/p>\n

Officially unveiled on Saturday, December 6, this milestone in early childhood education for Dominica and the broader Eastern Caribbean region, emphasizes that money management is a crucial life skill. The series creator holds this skill on par with reading and numeracy, and seeks to foster financial literacy from a young age.<\/p>\n

Currently, the first two books are available for purchase. The first book, “Earn It \u2013 Work, Earn and Play,” introduces children to the idea that money is earned through effort, creativity, and responsibility, reinforced through various earning activities. The second book, “Save It \u2013 The Power to Plan,” emphasizes the importance of saving, patience, and goal-setting, utilizing relatable storytelling and interactive activities to reinforce these lessons.<\/p>\n

Finance Focus says that both titles feature vibrant illustrations, Caribbean-inspired characters, and incorporate real Eastern Caribbean currency to make learning practical, familiar, and enjoyable for young readers.<\/p>\n

The series will expand with four additional titles, released progressively:
\n– Book 3: “Spend It” \u2013 Focuses on making thoughtful spending choices.
\n– Book 4: “Share It” \u2013 Teaches generosity, empathy, and community values.
\n– Book 5: “Grow It” \u2013 Introduces early concepts of investing and long-term financial thinking.
\n– Book 6: “Borrow It” \u2013 Covers responsible borrowing and financial caution.<\/p>\n

Together, these six books aim to form a comprehensive, child-friendly financial curriculum designed to break the cycle of financial confusion and silence that often persists across generations.<\/p>\n

The books are accessible through various channels to reach both local and international audiences: Amazon Store & Kindle platforms, as well as ShopDM & Jay\u2019s Bookstore, available for purchase starting December 22.<\/p>\n

The series was reportedly created by Luana Laurent, who recognized the increasing need for early financial education. She emphasized that money habits are often formed as early as age seven, and that equipping children with financial knowledge before mistakes occur is essential.<\/p>\n

Laurent stated,\u201cFinancial literacy should not begin after mistakes are made, it should begin before they are possible. These books exist to interrupt that cycle and give our children the clarity, confidence, and calm we wish we had
\nearlier.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laurent indicated that she envisions “Making Sense of Dollars” becoming a staple in homes, schools, and communities across Dominica and the Eastern Caribbean.<\/p>\n

She hopes the series will contribute to building a more financially resilient and empowered society.<\/p>\n
