The Government of Cuba has issued a strong denunciation of the recent military action undertaken by the United States against Venezuela, unequivocally condemning what it describes as an act of aggression, following the January 3 capture of the country’s leader, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife.<\/p>\n
In a formal statement, the Cuban authorities reaffirmed their unwavering support and solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its government.<\/p>\n
Cuba expressed its support for the statements made by Venezuela\u2019s Vice President, Delcy Rodr\u00edguez, emphasizing her call for the U.S. government to provide evidence confirming the safety and whereabouts of President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro Moros and Cilia Flores.<\/p>\n
Long-time allies of the country, the Cuban government also underscored its backing for Venezuela\u2019s determination to defend its sovereignty and independence against what it characterizes as unwarranted foreign interference.<\/p>\n
“This cowardly U.S. aggression constitutes a criminal act and a violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. It represents a dangerous escalation of the sustained campaign of war waged for years by the United States against that sister nation, which intensified beginning in September 2025 with the aggressive naval deployment in the Caribbean Sea, under false pretexts and unfounded accusations lacking any evidence,” alleged Cuban officials.<\/p>\n
In addition, Cuba called for the immediate release of President Maduro and Cilia Flores, condemning what it describes as imperialist and fascist aggression aimed at dominating Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n
Suggesting that these actions are rooted in the Monroe Doctrine, the statement alleges that the objective of the action is to regain hegemonic dominance over the region\u2019s natural resources and political stability. It also accused the U.S. of attempting to intimidate and subjugate regional governments.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the Cuban authorities warned of the possible repercussions of the U.S. actions, holding U.S. President Donald Trump, Secretary of State, and other influential figures responsible for any harm or loss of life resulting from the military intervention.<\/p>\n
Invoking the 2014 Havana Declaration,\u00a0 Cuba issued a call to the Latin American and Caribbean nations\u2019 collective commitment to the agreement that declared the region a zone of peace \u2014 a principle now seen as threatened by U.S. actions.<\/p>\n
“The international community cannot allow an aggression of this nature and gravity against a UN Member State to go unpunished, nor permit the military abduction of the legitimate and sitting president of a sovereign country without consequences. Venezuela is a peaceful nation that has not attacked the United States or any other country.<\/p>\n
For that sister nation and its people, we are prepared to give, as we would for Cuba, even our own blood,” declared the statement.<\/p>\n
Finally, Cuba called on governments, parliaments, social organizations, and the international community to condemn the military action and to oppose what it describes as state terrorism.<\/p>\n
It warned that such acts threaten global peace and security and pose a challenge to the sovereignty of Latin American nations.<\/p>\n
“All nations of the region must remain alert, as the threat hangs over all. In Cuba, our determination to struggle is firm and unwavering. The decision is one and only one: Homeland or Death.<\/p>\n
