I understand your concerns and the fears attached due to the increased gun violence in Portsmouth,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I just want to reiterate that violence has no place in our community, and it would never define who we are as a people. We are Portsmouth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cAs Mayor, I want to assure you that we are working closely with law enforcement, the Dominica Police Force, community leaders, and event organizers to strengthen the safety measures and ensure that everyone can participate and celebrate with confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Breedy-Prince mentioned further that Portsmouth has always been a town of culture, unity, resilience, and peace, \u201cbut we will not allow fear to silence our joy or erase our tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She emphasized that Possie Town Mas is about life, it\u2019s about music, and togetherness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd together we will move forward safely,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>She also stated that she encourages everyone to come down to Portsmouth on Saturday, January 17, where festivities will start at 3:00 PM, to have fun.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&nbsp; As the town of Portsmouth prepares to celebrate \u2018Possie Town Mas\u2019 this weekend, Mayor of Portsmouth, Her Worship Kerry Breedy-Prince, has gone on the record to state that violence has no place in that community.
